The stock air box uses a tiny 2 1/2" paper filter. It is too small and loads up with dirt too easy. The plastic lid on the stock box holds the filter in place. It is known to wear out easily, causing the filter to come loose. This allows dirt into the motor and ruins it.

This air box uses a HUGE 4 1/2" filter that is clamped to a heavy duty aluminum ring. 4 times more dirt holding capacity. No chance of it coming loose. The panel on the left side of the air box can be removed to replace the filter and clean the inside of the air box. The front panel/ lid has an opening at the top where air comes in. Both panels are sealed to the rest of the box with water resistant neoprene rubber.

Leave the front panel/ lid in place for a 1-2 horsepower increase on an otherwise stock machine. Remove the lid for a 3-6 horsepower increase on a stock machine. With the addition of a fuel management unit and a good exhaust system this air box is good for 10 horsepower.

Your stock air box has the crank case breather hose attached to it. This air box allows for so much air flow that the crank case breather hose can not be attached to the air box because it can actually suck oil out of your crank case and into the air box. We leave the breather hose open and tie it to the frame in the highest location it will reach. We have run our ATV's with an open breather hose for many years, in all riding conditions with no problems. The crank case maintains positive pressure on the hose making it virtually impossible for anything to get in. The open crank case breather hose has been standard on many ATV's for years. If you would like more protection, you can add a crank case breather filter to the hose.

As with any lift of this type, spring compression is required. You may need a coil spring compressor. Available to rent from most auto parts stores for a few dollars.

A 1" spacer lifts the ATV 2" because of the geometry of progressive rate suspension. With stock shocks, the weight of the ATV compresses the springs about 1", lowering the ATV about 2". With the lift installed, the weight of the ATV will not compress the springs. This has the same effect as if the shock was 1" longer. A shock that is 1" longer raises the ATV 2". You can see this if you remove one shock bolt and lift the ATV so the mounting hole in the shock is 1" away from the mounting hole in the frame. The only way you would need a 2" spacer for 2" of lift is if the suspension arm was horizontal and the spring was vertical.

To install, remove the shocks from the ATV. Compress the springs. There is a "C" shaped collar that holds the spring to the shock body. When you compress the spring, this "C" shaped collar will fall off. Slide the lift spacer on the shock body and replace the "C" shaped collar. Reinstall the shock.

The stock air box uses a restrictive flat paper filter. It is too small and loads up with dirt too easily. The stock paper filter is easy to tear. The plastic lid on the stock box is supposed to hold the filter in place, but you never know if it is sealed properly. This allows dirt into the engine and ruins it.

This air box uses a 4" I.D. filter that is clamped to a heavy duty aluminum ring. It has 2 times more dirt holding capacity than the stock filter and there is no chance of it coming loose or allowing dirt to pass.

This air box comes with 2 different lids. Both lids are sealed with water resistant neoprene rubber. One lid will seal the top of the air box completely, just like your stock air box, so all air will come through the stock snorkel. With the full lid you will see a 2 horsepower increase. The second lid has an opening in one side for increased air flow and a 4 horsepower increase. The third option is to run with no lid at all for a 6 horsepower increase. No fuel management unit is required with either lid in place. If you remove the lid, you will need a fuel management unit to see a 6 horsepower increase.

Does not come with a filter. Uses UNI filter NU-4102ST $30.00, or K&N filter part number RU-2520 $60.00.
